CHAP - A few facts

Dunes are actually growing where the CHAP states they are eroding.  

The CHAP fails to account for vegetation actually reducing erosion.  

A number of CHAP-identified erosion areas do not align with the Council’s hazard mapping.  

Technical studies and reports from which the CHAP is derived are not included in the document.  

There is a less than 1% probability of erosion significantly affecting private land by 2070.  

Last July, Council secretly wrote to the State Government to pre-empt adverse planning changes for coastal homeowners, seven months before releasing the ‘consultation draft’.
